Weather Causes Several Traffic Hazards and Power Outages

SALINAS, Calif- CHP is reporting several accidents due to rough weather conditions. Click here for road conditions from CHP.

At this time, Santa Cruz County has experienced two temporary road closures due to downed wires.  Trout Gulch Road at mile marker 2.51 is currently closed due to downed wires and Highland Way at post marker 1.18 has only one lane open due to downed wires.  The Department of Public Works provides a frequently updated list of road closures at: http://www.sccroadclosure.org/

Current rainfall totals have ranged from 2 to 5 inches in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This has caused the previously low rivers and streams to slowly and steadily rise overnight, said county officials.

Flash flood, high wind and high surf advisories have been issued by the National Weather Service through Monday morning for Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito county.

Santa Cruz County is reporting that 1,300 customers are without power in that area. You can check on power outages in your area, just click here.
