MONTEREY, Calif. -- The Naval Postgraduate School Foundation sent out a statement on the investigation of two top school officials accused of accepting thousands of dollars in gifts, and mismanagement.
So far both the president and the provost have been fired. There's a 98 page report detailing the alleged mismanagement by President Daniel Oliver and a 27 page report of similar allegations to the Vice President and Provost Leonard Ferrari.
In a statement the foundation said this regarding the Naval Inspector General Report of Investigation:
"The Naval Postgraduate School Foundation is in the process of reviewing the Naval Inspector General Report of NPS, released yesterday. The Foundation's mission is, and will continue to be, to encourage the pursuit of educational excellence at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). To do so, the NPS Foundation solicits, receives, and administers funds, securities, and gifts-in-kind in order to provide NPS with a wide range of support for its academic programs and facilities. For over 40 years, the Foundation has always endeavored to comply with all Navy and DoD regulations regarding non-Federal entities, and will continue to do so without exception. All trustees and supporters are singularly focused on the mission of making NPS a better research university. Most of these individuals volunteer their time in this pursuit, with the belief that our national security will be stronger with our support. The NPS Foundation is committed to the students and faculty of the NPS and will strive to continue to support their research and programs."
A press conference was scheduled today at the Naval Postgraduate School about the investigation. The press conference starts at 4:30 p.m.
