New York, N.Y.- Shoppers across the country took advantage of Cyber Monday deals this year, breaking online shopping records.
According to IBM, overall Cyber Monday sales are up more than 30-percent from last year. Online sales peaked at 8-25 yesterday morning and shoppers spent on average 185-dollars a purchase.
Online sales were up this year for department stores, apparel and home goods. Mobile devices account for about 13-percent of sales with I-pads and I-phones used the most.
Experts say one advantage online shoppers have aside from all the Cyber Monday deals and incentives is the ability to easily compare prices at different retailers to find the best option.
On Cyber Monday more than 18 percent of consumers used a mobile device to visit a retailer's site, an increase of more than 70 percent over 2011. Mobile sales reached close to 13 percent, an increase of more than 96 percent over 2011.
