Salinas, Calif.-Black Friday may be over but Cyber Monday is designed to drag you back in for another round of shopping deals! But how can you protect your information from online scammers?
One shopper puts it this way "You're not interrupted, you don't have to get dressed, you don't even have to brush your teeth if you don't wait too, it's great."
Shoppers are expected to spend more than 1-billion dollars this Cyber Monday, that's according to Comscore. And whether you use your smart phone, tablet or computer to make your purchases, how can you really know who's on the other side of your screen?
Kevin Barker and computer experts says "You have to be very careful with scams because they make the website look exactly like the sites that you think you're going to."
Barker works on computers and says this time of year he sees a growing threat of cyber crimes.
"Look at the page really well look for misspelling because a lot of these will be offshore and if you read the english it may not look quite right."
If you're on a website and it looks suspicious you may want to look at the 'url' in the addess line and look for an "https"- that extra "s" after http means it's a secured site, so any personal information you enter will be scrambled so no one will be able to get a hold of it.
Many shoppers say time is money and shopping online is more convenient.
Shopper Amanda Miller says "It's easier especially when you're shopping for young ones and don't want them to see stuff."
And shopper Kellie Clark says "That's what the Internet is for I don't want to deal with crazy people."
So be safe and secure and be aware on Cyber Monday.
