WATSONVILLE, Calif. -- Police are on the hunt for the suspect who stabbed a 45-year old man in Watsonville Thursday night.

It happened on the 500 block of Berman Lane. Police say they responded to a call of a disturbance. When they arrived, investigating officers say they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Police say they tried to get information from the victim, but he was being uncooperative and would not provide any details of the incident. Officers say they found out through witnesses that it all began with an argument between the victim and the suspect. They say, the argument escalated into a physical altercation, and it was during that altercation the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect then fled on foot. Police on scene searched the area, but did not locate the suspect.

Watsonville Fire Department and American Medical Response treated the victim on scene before he was transported to Watsonville Community Hospital. The victim was later transported by helicopter to a Bay Area trauma center. Police say his injuries are non life-threatening. The victim is in stable condition. Police are encouraging anyone with information to call the Watsonville Police Department.
