SOLEDAD, Calif. -- New information on a statewide investigation into nurses on the central coast.
On Wednesday, we found out a nurse in Soledad, accused of falsifying time sheets and drug records, is still on the job.
Despite four investigations filed against Angelia Britt by the Attorney General's office, we learned the registered nurse is still working at soledad's correctional training facility.
Documents allege she falsified and approved fraudulent timesheets to pay a nurse who was sick, or not at work.
In 2010, the complaint claims Britt pretended to perform an audit and recreated controlled adminstration record sheets, claiming 1,200 drugs were missing, and never reported the drug losses.
The Department of Consumer Affairs said because Britt is still under investigation, she's innocent until proven guilty.
Until her license is actually revoked, it's up to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation on what it wants to do with her status at work.
Consumer Affairs said there are legitimate reasons for employers to move cautiously when somebody has an accusation leveled against them because of litigation concerns.
Corrections and Rehabilitation said what it does with its employees under investigation varies from case to case.
It wouldn't talk about Britt, but said options include staying on the job, being re-directed to another position, or put on paid administrative leave.
So far Britt has not filed a notice to fight the accusations, according to Consumer Affairs, but she still has time.
Britt could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
Matt Pimentel, an employee on stress leave who said he worked with Britt, sent Central Coast this statement: "It is somewhat comforting to know that the truth is finally coming to light concerning the dangerous incompetence of Ms. Angelia Britt. Unfortunately, I do not have much faith in the state policing itself in these matters nor its ability to correcting the problems that are endemic at CTF and perhaps all throughout CDCR. My family has taken a personal toll of emotional and psychological hardship by the retaliatory efforts directed by this institution. I fully expect CTF to continue to besmirch my reputation during this process. At every turn, I was rebutted and labeled as a troublemaker because I insisted on high ethical standards of performance for the nursing and medical staff. One only needs to look at the discriminatory actions and ineptitude of their CEO, Mr. Ellis, in allowing Ms. Britt and others to continue their chicanery while coming after me and not the true criminals who still work for that institution."
