SEASIDE, Calif. -- Central Coast News followed an eight-ton "bear cat" rumbling through the streets on the Monterey Peninsula.
This is no wild animal.
It's an armored tank part of Seaside's assault on crime.
The big effort here on the peninsula is to crack down on high-risk gang activity and on Wednesday the team was out in full force serving search warrants.
There were a total of three search warrants served by the Peninsula Regional Violence Narcotics Team and the Monterey Special Response Unit.
One happened on Lake Drive in Marina at Shoreline Apartments.
And two happened in Seaside -- one in the 1500 block of Luxton, and another in the 1600 block of Judson.
No word yet on what police found inside these homes during the three search warrants.
What we do know is they were looking for evidence, not a particular person.
