Man Flags Down Police After Being Shot Twice in Greenfield

Posted: Updated:

GREENFIELD, Calif. - Greenfield Police Officers are investigating a shooting Tuesday evening involving one victim, shot twice.

Police Chief Eric Sills says his officers were on routine patrol when they heard approximately 5 to 6 gunshots being fired from the area of Palm Avenue and 11th Street.  Officers immediately responded into the area and were flagged down by a 29-year-old Hispanic male victim who had been shot in his left thigh and left shoulder area.

Although the victim was conscious and communicative, he was later airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center for treatment of his injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking southbound on 11th Street when a passenger sitting in a parked white sedan exited the right front passenger side of the vehicle and began discharging rounds at him.  The victim fell to the ground and the vehicle sped off in an unknown direction.

At this time there is no known motive.  Although the victim is known to have associated with local gangs in the past, there is no indication that he is currently an active gang member.

Greenfield is asking anyone with information related to this case contact Detective Rey Medeles at (831) 674-5111, extension 2261.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call the WeTIP hotline at 1-800-782-7463.
