Christmas Tree Arrives at State Capitol

Posted: Updated:

SACRAMENTO--The colors in this year's Capitol christmas tree will be much brighter than in years past.

Now that it's in its rightful place in front of the west steps of the state Capitol, the decorating can begin.

The 50-foot white fir was removed from the Latour Demonstration State Forest near Redding on Tuesday. California's Department of Forestry and Fire transported it to the Capitol Wednesday, and with help from the Department of General Services, erected and secured the massive tree.

This year's tree at Capitol Park, will feature vibrant blues and blue-greens.

State crews from the State Department of General Services will spend the next several days trimming the tree with hundreds of ornaments and 10- to 12- thousand red lights.
