SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. -- CHP responded to an accident that happened Tuesday around noon. A 66-year old man riding a Vespa died after he crashed along the highway.
CHP says the car was traveling southbound on State Route 25 just south of La Gloria Road in San Benito County.
The driver was riding on a Vespa 3001E motor. Officers did not know how fast the man was driving. They said while he was making a turn, he collided with the embankment and was thrown from the Vespa. The driver died of his injuries.
CHP said the victim is from Santa Clara County. They do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident. The crash is still under investigation.
