SALINAS, Calif.- After several meetings between the City of Salinas, Oldtown Salinas merchants and the OSA, a new parking plan was put into place Sunday to alleviate some of the problems of parking on the 100 block of Main, where construction is underway for Taylor Farms' business complex.
Taylor Farms started construction over the summer on its 97,000 sq. ft. building. In September, Central Coast News told you about James Sang who owns Sang's Cafe. He said after Taylor Farms started building, his business has taken a dip because parking is restricted.
Now, many business owners are happy to hear about new signage that has already been placed downtown, guiding traffic into the 100 block. Additional banners will be placed in the near future, ads will run in local newspapers through the end of the year and merchants on Gabilan and the 100 block of Main Street can now pick up blue parking tickets for customers, which will give them 90 FREE MINUTES of parking in the Monterey Street Parking Garage.
There is NO CHARGE for these cards, according to the Oldtown Salinas Association.
