SALINAS, Calif. -- A woman suspected of drinking and driving was flown to the hospital for head injuries after police say she hit a parked car.
Officers say it happened Sunday night along East Alisal and Kern Street in Salinas. The first call came in around 7:30 p.m. where a Toyota Camry was seen driving away after hitting a parked Ford Mustang and causing major damage.
Police found the car parked in a nearby motel lot. The driver of the car was identified at 34-year old Andrea Gomez. Officers say she suffered moderate head injury from the hit and run accident. Gomez was flown to San Jose Regional Medical Center for her injuries.
Salinas police say they believe Gomez was under the influence of alcohol. They say she was also driving on a suspended license. She will be charged with DUI, hit and run and driving with a suspended license after she is released from the hospital.
