SALINAS, Calif. -- Salinas Police arrested Byron Landry from Los Angeles after he met his girlfriend in Salinas to retrieve some property. Police say they got into an argument and Landry dragged his 31 year old girlfriend into his van by her hair.

It happened on Saturday morning at the 400 block of Park Street. The victim was able to escape from Landry who was parked in a van near Cassidy Street. She ran up to some homes and started banging on the doors for help. Police say Landry caught up with her, punched her several times and then continued to drag her by her hair again. Neighbors heard the commotion and called police.

Police say the suspect, Landry, drove off to avoid police. Officers were able to track him down by his license plate. Landry was taken to the county jail and booked on charged of domestic violence, kidnapping,  and driving with a suspended license.
