PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.- Diamonds drip from candles on the linen-clad tables, filled with flowers and sprigs of mint. The smell of scallops drifts through the air as plates of polenta and lamb are served to waiting guests.
It's a night to remember, and Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula will accomplish just that again this year at its 16th Annual Culinary Extravaganza. The Culinary Classique d' Elegance will be held on Sunday, November 18th at Spanish Bay.
There's an all-star line-up of chefs, designers and florists for the signature event. For each table, there will be a chef and design team assigned to create an amazing tablescape and menu for their guests. Each chef creates a six-course meal based on an ingredient that is assigned by Chef Cutino.
This year's menu starts with a quail course, followed by a scallop course, then an intermezzo. The main course will be lamb, followed by a cheese/salad course and then dessert. The designers and florists work with their chefs to create an amazing tablescape for their guests. Each table will have its own unique design based on the whimsy of the designers.
The Culinary Classique d' Elegance started as a six-course dinner prepared by 8 local chefs. The centerpieces for each table were created by one florist. The second year, designers were added to create individual table designs. Over the years, as the event has grown in popularity and size, more chefs, designers were brought in to accommodate the number of guests.
Tickets for the dinner are $275 per person, and can be obtained by calling Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula at (831) 375-445.
