NEW YORK - Just after a massive "super storm" Sandy made landfall in southern New Jersey, New York City's main power plant, "Consolidated Edison" purposely cut power to about 6,500 customers in downtown Manhattan to avoid further damage.
It was just after that move, the plant exploded - sending a blue ray of light into the sky, over a blackened New York City skyline.
That explosion - caused 300,000 customers in the area to lose power.
