WATSONVILLE, Calif. -- Police are on the hunt for two suspects who allegedly assaulted and robbed a victim at knifepoint Sunday evening.

It happened at the Discount Mall on Rodriguez Street, where the victim had been shopping.

Wastonville Police say the victim was approached by a suspect, who started a casual conversation. That's when, according to police, the suspect pulled out a knife which was concealed on his person and brandished it to the victim.

Police say the first suspect was then joined by a second suspect. That's when both suspects forced the victim out of the store at knifepoint.

According to police, the first suspect demanded the victim's money. The victim complied, in fear of being stabbed, and gave the suspects an undisclosed amount of cash. Once the suspect had the money, police say both suspect fled the scene in separate directions.

Police describe the first suspect as an Hispanic male with a heavy build, in his 30s. Police say he was wearing a blue shirt. They say the second victim was also an Hispanic male with a medium build. The second suspect's age is unknown at this time.

Watsonville Police say the victim was not harmed, and was able to return to the Discount Mall to call law enforcement.

Investigators say they searched the area, but were not able to find the suspects. Several other investigative leads and witnesses are being followed up. Anyone with information is asked to call the Watsonville Investigation Bureau at 831-768-3350 or the Watsonville Tip Line at 831-768-3544.
