SALINAS, Calif. -- Salinas police arrested a man accused of assaulting and kidnapping the mother of his child.
Police say a report came in Monday night about the attack. It happened along the 1000 block of Buckhorn Drive. Police say 21 year old Osvaldo Ruiz was drinking and went to the 19 year old victim's house and accused her of infidelity. Police say the couple have been separated for a long time.
Officer say Ruiz argued with the victims father then allegedly grabbed the victim and forced her into his car against her will. At one point the woman tried to call 911 for help on her cell phone but Ruiz took her phone away. The suspect drove several miles and punched the woman several times in the face, then let her go.
Police arrested Ruiz on Tuesday at his home. He was taken to the Monterey County Jail and booked on charges of domestic violence, kidnapping and other charges.
