SALINAS, Calif. -- Tents, tarps, and worst of all trash. Lots of trash.
"The thing that worries me would be the bathroom facilities. They are down there without any facilities," said Bille Kubota.
Kubota lives right next to the encampments, and sees it everyday. Kubota said its not so much the people living there cause trouble, but she's afraid of the environmental damage.
Since there are schools in this area a lot of students walk up and down the bridge off Sanborn. They said they actually get harassed from the people who lives in the encampments which are just over that fence.
It seems to be growing, last time we were here there were 7 camps, today there are over 20, with more than one person in these makeshift homes
That's not all.
"There was a fire started and I guess they a built a fire and it went on the grass," said Kubota.
A man living there said he doesn't have anywhere else to go. He said even though police do patrol the area and tell people to leave, the camps just come right back.
