SALINAS, Calif. - A man has been booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges he was abusing a child inside the laundry room of a Salinas Apartment Complex. It happened Wednesday evening on the 100 block of N. Pearl.
A resident caught the suspect, 26-year-old Ray Garcia, and a child in what appeared to be an abusive situation. The witness called police and remained with the suspect until police arrived.
Officers detained Garcia at the scene. Their investigation revealed Garcia may have sexually abused the child and enough evidence was developed to arrest Garcia for at least two counts of sexual child abuse.
The investigation is continuing with no additional information available at this time.
Ray Garcia was booked into county jail on the child molestation charges.
