Santa Cruz Man Arrested Almost 2 Weeks After Chase

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Police arrested 30 year old Faustino Hernandez of Santa Cruz on Tuesday for reckless driving and evading police. CHP officers say the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on October 3rd, where CHP chased a white Nissan pickup driving over 80 miles per hour South on Highway 17.

The driver collided with another car parked along Plymouth Drive off the Ocean Street exit. The man continued to drive down several city streets then was run off the road in to a ravine on the 100 block of North Branciforte Street. The man was chased on foot but got away.

CHP was able to identify the man through their investigation, and arrested him at his home almost two weeks later on October 16th.

Hernandez was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail and faces charges of felony reckless driving and evading police. His bail was set at $75,000.
