Mom, Accused of Ditching Child During Burglary, Out of Jail

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Morgan Hill mom accused of ditching her daughter last month after an attempt to steal groceries from a Safeway in Morgan Hill is out of jail.

Marcy Erico, 38, went before a judge Tuesday in San Jose, facing burglary and contributing to delinquency of a minor charges.

She's expected back in court next month to enter a plea.

She is suspected of having her 10-year-old daughter attempt to shoplift groceries and beer from a Morgan Hill Safeway. When her daughter was stopped by Morgan Hill Police, police said Erico fled the scene.

Authorities said the next day, Erico left the area with her eleven-month-old son, but was arrested in Fernley, Nevada.

She was extradited back to Santa Clara County.
