SALINAS, Calif.- With Tuesday night's debate being so important for undecided voters, we decided to find out how honest both President Obama and Former Massachusettes Governor Mitt Romney were with their answers. We looked for answers to your questions on Facebook.
The first question came from Nanci Ryker-Judd. She wanted us to find out, "does Romney promote a cap on deductions?"
We went to a few non-partisan, non-profit websites and one of them was Factcheck.org which analyzes these sorts of questions. It said previously Romney hadn't said which tax deductions he would reduce or eliminate. But this time he told voters he has a specific plan to reduce the middle class tax burden.
"Every middle income tax payer, no longer will pay anymore tax on interest, dividends or capital gains. No tax on your savings, that makes life a lot easier," Romney said.
Romney claims middle income taxpayers will still get deductions. But where they'll see the biggest impact is through a lower tax rate.
On a different subject, Facebook follower Tee Lambert said he wanted us to answer this question, "what about the statement that Obama called it a terrorist attack while in the rose garden. Is that a fact or malarkey?"
Tee's talking about the state department's response to the September 11th attacks on the US consulate in Bengahzi, Libya, killing four Americans. One town hall attendee asked the president about the response to that attack. President Obama had this to say:
"The day after the attack, governor, I stood in the Rose Garden and I told the American people and the world, that we were going to find out exactly what happened, that this was an act of terror and I also said that we're going to hunt down those who committed this crime," said President Obama.
Factcheck.org said President Obama did speak from the Rose Garden the next morning. Romney criticized Obama for taking too long to call it an attack. But Obama responded by saying he needed to gather all the information first.
