SALINAS, Calif. -- Salinas Police responded to Heald College after the college's financial aid department reported receiving a threatening call from someone. The college went on a temporary lock down around 12pm Tuesday, while police investigated. No one was allowed in and out during that time.
Police determined that the threats were a hoax and lifted the standoff. No one was arrested.
Salinas police say that even though it was a hoax they take any threatening calls to schools very serious.
"There have been very violent incidences that started as a threatening call and it escalated to the worse tragedy that could happen. Well, that is part of the reason we take all the precautions," said Miguel Cabrera, Salinas Police.
