SALINAS, Calif- From shoplifters to armed robbers, several robberies turned violent over the past few days in Salinas.
Monday morning a 61-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint when he was in his car. He was leaving Gin's Market on the 900 block of Sanborn Rd when police said a man walked up to the driver side and demanded money.
The suspect then tried to open the car door but couldn't because it was locked. Police say the suspect then fired two rounds into the driver's side window shattering it. The victim was not hit by a bullet but he did get minor cuts from the glass, and was treated at the scene.
The suspect then got into the car on the passenger side and drove away. The car is described as a gray compact car.
Over the weekend a woman was arrested for attacking a security guard at the Rite Aid on 600 Block of Williams Rd
Kimberly Dvorak walked in and began to put make-up in her purse, said police. She is accused of hitting the security guard who tried to stop her. The security guard only suffered minor injuries and Dvorak was arrested for robbery and violation of probation.
Also on Sunday a 53-year-old man was struck from behind when he was walking through Hebbron Alley. That suspect then kicked him in the back and took his cell phone and wallet, police said.
The victim managed to get up and run away. Though the suspect chased him for a bit, he eventually stopped, police said. That suspect is described as a dark skinned man in his early 20's.
On Saturday, a Man armed with a semi-automatic gun took cash from a Check and Go on North Sanborn Rd, police said. That suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 25, 5'8 and 200 pounds. He was wearing a mask when he robbed the Check N Go but took it off right before leaving.
His image was captured on surveillance cameras, Police urge anyone who can identify the suspect to contact them immediately.
Two men also robbed the Domino's on Main St. Both suspects were described as white males and were last seen running away from the Dominos, police said.
