SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- 68 basketball players came out to the second and last open tryouts for the Santa Cruz Warriors Basketball team. Sunday's open tryouts took place at Aptos High School, the team's first open tryouts was on October 7th in Oakland.
One of the hopefuls was Salinas Youth Basketball Coach Hassan Houston, who coaches at Gil Basketball Academy. Houston says that he hopes that by pursuing his dreams in trying out, he can inspire his kids.
"Never give up. Never give up. You know you have a goal in mind and the best thing to do is keep your eye focused on the goal and keep pushing forward," said Houston.
Houston says he's learned several warm up drills at the Warriors tryouts which he will take back and use with his players.
