Body Identified in Missing Persons Case in Colorado

Posted: Updated:

WESTMINISTER, Colo. - According to CBS, police have identified the body found 7 miles from the home of missing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway.

Ridgeway was taken on a walk from her home to Witt Elementary School on October 5. The kidnapping caused hundreds of law enforcement officers to search the areas near Denver.

Ridgeway's mother was not made aware that her daughter did not make it to school until hours later. She had worked the night before and slept through phone calls making her aware.

The Pattridge Park is located in Arvada, a suburb of Denver. According to CBS, police said the body was not intact but did not go into further details.

The FBI is asking people to be aware of anything out of the ordinary. They have ruled out the mother and father, who lives in Missouri, as suspects. They believe she was kidnapped by an "unknown" suspect but the community may know this individual.

The news caused a bit of alert across the small Colorado town.
