SALINAS, Calif.- If you drive anywhere on the Monterey-Salinas corridor these days, you'll see the bright signs advertising an event that's gaining more momentum as the days go by, promoting the "salad bowl" capital of the world.

Lots of people are talking about the Salinas Valley Food and Wine Festival's second annual event just weeks away as thousands are expected to attend.

Organizers say, "the mission of the Salinas Valley Food and Wine Festival is to foster local celebration of fantastic food and wine while highlighting the growing cultural, arts and culinary communities in the Salinas Valley."

Near 100 volunteers have put together a month-long event that includes wine maker dinners, incredible VIP experiences and a live concert featuring the 80′s rock band sensation, Berlin.

The highlight of our celebration comes Saturday, October 20th where visitors will be met with an impressive collection of vendors, lectures, musical acts and cultural presentations . There's also a vintage car, boat and motorcycle show. The event lasts from noon until 5pm.

The family friendly event will cover six city blocks in historical "Oldtown Salinas."

A VIP Pavilion will also feature chefs and wine makers alike for cooking demonstrations and wine related lectures.  There is a cigar bar, hookah bar and area dedicated to tasting of rare and unique craft tequila and whiskey.
