SALINAS, Calif. - On Wednesday, Congressman Sam Farr will be visiting 60 students from Alisal High School who have set out to travel to Washington D.C. to experience the historic presidential inauguration.
Congressman Farr will encourage and motivate the students to continue their ambitious efforts to attend the 2013 Presidential Inauguration and emphasize the important role that young people can play in shaping the policies that our nation adopts in the future.
In order to attend the inauguration the students must raise almost $2,000 in order to pay for the cost of their trip or almost $120,000 as a whole. So far, the students have raised approximately $35,000.
The students are part of a school club called Dreams of DC and will head to the Capitol from January 18th to January, 22nd, 2013.
The cost to each student for this 5 day presidential inauguration trip is $1,898, which includes round trip airfare, hotel, breakfasts and dinners, guided tours to the White House, Capitol Building, U.S. Supreme Court, Smithsonian Museums, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Lincoln Memorial, just to name a few of the sites they will visit.
At least half of the students' trip must be paid by November 5th, 2012... the day before the presidential election.
