SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Santa Cruz Police have released a sketch for the man they believe tried to lure an 11-year-old boy into his truck Monday afternoon.  "It's uncomfortable, because I walk around with my daughter and my dog. There are a lot of kids in this area," said Nicole Rubio.

Rubio and many other neighbors describe Walnut Avenue just like that, a block filled with children playing.  Monday evening, not one kid was in sight when Central Coast News visited the area.  Parents say they are afraid to let their kids out after what happened just a few hours earlier.

Police say a boy was on his way to football practice around 4:00pm Monday when a man yelled at the boy to get into his pick-up truck.  Feeling threatened, the boy ran away.

Police say even though the man did not get out of the car and there was no physical contact between the two they are taking this case very serious.

Schools in the area will be alerted about the attempted kidnap. Police have also alerted all patrols in Santa Cruz City and County to be on the look out for the description of the car. Police say the man was driving an early 2000's model medium gray Toyota Tundra type truck.  The man is described as having black and silver hair, a mustache and was wearing dark sunglasses.

"It just really scares me that something like that can happen around here," said Rubio. Rubio adds, especially since there's a middle school just around the corner.

If you have any information regarding this suspect or spotting the car in question, Santa Cruz Police are asking you contact 911.
