Early Voting Begins Today

Posted: Updated:

CALIFORNIA- The upcoming election is still more than a month away, but you don't have to wait that long if you're ready to cast your ballot ahead of time. Californians are joining voters in dozens of other states who have already started marking their November ballots. Monday is the first day vote by mail ballots will be available and it's the last day to register to vote in order to receive a sample ballot & state ballot pamphlet.

Shannon Velayas with the California Secretary of State's Office says, "Today marks the 29th day before election day, which means county elections officials can send out ballots to vote-by-mail voters, and voters who want to vote in person can head down to their county elections office and vote in person there."

If you haven't yet registered to vote, the deadline is October 22nd. If you have registered and want to apply to vote by mail, the deadline for that is October 30th. Some county elections offices may be closed today for Columbus Day.
