DENVER, Colorado - The stage is built, cameras are set and the lights are lit at the University of Colorado tonight for the first presidential debate this year. President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Governor Mitt Romney will square off head to head tonight.
The debate will begin at 6:00 PT. The debate is formatted to six segments of 15 minutes each. The candidates will have two minutes to respond to each question.
The first three segments will be devoted to entirely the debated economy. Then there will be a segment on healthcare and the, roles of the government and how it should be done.
While the presidential candidates are cramming for the debate, their running mates are still hot on the campaign trail.
Vice President Joe Biden asked a question and now his campaign says the Republicans mixed up his words.
VP Biden asked, "How can they justify raising taxes on the middle class that has been buried the last four years?"
Republican Paul Ryan responded by saying, "They're being buried by the Obama Administration's economic failures."
The Obama campaign fired back saying they were simply referring to the former president, George W. Bush, and his policy, which they say is to blame for the recession.
