SANTA CRUZ, Calif- As players are practicing 'layups', construction crews are 'laying-down' the foundation for the new Santa Cruz Warriors stadium.
The Public Relations Manager for the Santa Cruz Warriors told Central Coast News that construction plans are on schedule for the new $5.4 million dollar facility.
The stadium is expected to seat nearly 3,000 fans, and would sit between the downtown area and the beach in Santa Cruz.
The Warriors are scheduled to play their first home game December 23rd.
Coming up soon, those aspiring to become a 'Warrior' themselves could have their dreams come true as the Warriors hold try outs for the team.
The Santa Cruz Warriors, the NBA Development League, and the Golden State Warriors will hold two open tryouts in October for their inaugural season.
Players can showcase their skills in front of Warrior's coaches on October 7th.
That first round is at the Golden State Warriors Training Facility in Oakland.
Then, October 14th, you can try out here locally at the Aptos High School Gym in Aptos.
The tryouts are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at both locations, both days.
