SANTA CRUZ, Calif- The District Attorney's office has filed charges against the suspect accused of beating a man with a hammer because the victim was gay.
Neoklis Koumides was arraigned late on Friday and pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with a deadly weapon as well as hate crime charges.
Meanwhile, Santa Cruz Police are still searching for a the woman that is accused of starting the whole incident by yelling gay slurs at the couple, said police. If arrested, she could be charged as an accessory in the crime.
