MORGAN HILL, Calif -- The Lyon County Sheriff's Department has confirmed Marcy Keelin, the woman who ditched her 10 year old daughter after a spoiled grocery theft attempt, has been arrested in Fernley, Nevada.
Keelin's eleven month old son has been taken by Child Protective Custody and Deputies say the child is fine.
Investigators believe 38 year old Marcy Keelin was heading to Wyoming.
On Friday, officers spoke with Marcy Keelin over the phone who said if it wasn't for her son, she would commit suicide.
The whole story began when Central Coast News learned Keelin's 10 year old daughter was caught trying to steal groceries at the Safeway grocery store in Morgan Hill.
Keelin was waiting out front of the store in the 'getaway' car but when she saw her daughter exit the store with Morgan Hill Police, Keelin took off.
Shortly after, Keelin attempted to call the 10 year old's cell phone and when a Morgan Hill Police Officer answered and asked for Keelin to come pick up her daughter, Keelin said, "Absolutely not."
According to Morgan Hill Police, the 10 year old girl is now staying at a relative's home.
