Capitola Police Looking For Suspect Who Stole Truck, Crashed Into Mobile Home

Posted: Updated:

CAPITOLA, Calif- Wednesday night a Capitola police officer was following a man in a Toyota pickup truck who was acting suspicious.

However, when the officer tried to pull the driver over he just sped off, said police.  Officer Dan Weagle followed the truck down 42nd Avenue toward Capitola Road. The driver of the truck was driving too fast and ended up crashing the truck into a mobile home off Maciel, said police.

The driver must have ran off after the crash, because police were unable to find him. They were able to determine that the truck was reported stolen out of Santa Cruz.

After processing the truck, police found evidence that they believe links a suspect to the crime. However, because this is an ongoing investigation and no arrests have been made, they will not release the name of the possible suspect.
