SALINAS, Calif. -- A taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint in Salinas Monday, and now police are on the hunt for the suspect.
It happened at 701 Boronda Road, where police say an Hispanic male put a knife to the taxi driver's throat and demanded money.
Salinas Police say the taxi driver struggled with the suspect, losing concentration and driving off the road.
One the taxi stopped, officers say the suspect took the driver's wallet with $200 and then fled on foot. Police describe the suspect as an Hispanic male in his 40s, with grey hair, five feet tall and 165 pounds.
The taxi driver was taken to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital where he was treated for lacerations to his hands. Police continue to investigate.
