Bobblehead for Salinas Native

Posted: Updated:

SAN JOSE, Calif.- San Jose Earthquake soccer captain Ramiro Corrales is being honored with his very own bobblehead.

The graduate of North Salinas High has a 14-year major league soccer career, 12 of which are in Northern California.

About 5,000 Corrales bobbleheads will be given out at the Quakes October 21st match-up against the L.A. Galaxy.

In addition to the bobblehead giveaway, Wells Fargo will host a kickoff party featuring Corrales on Friday, Sept. 28 at a Wells Fargo store in Sunnyvale – 1241 S. Mary Ave. – from 4 to 7 p.m. Each person to open a checking account will receive an Earthquakes Fun Pack, which includes an autographed Corrales bobblehead and Earthquakes T-shirt. The event will also feature a local high school marching band, DJ, face painting and autograph signing.

Corrales is the last remaining active player to suit up during Major League Soccer's inaugural season in 1996. He joined San Jose in that first season after being traded from Columbus to the Clash on March 4, 1996. Corrales spent 12 of his 14 seasons in MLS with San Jose, including 1996-97, 2001-04 and 2008-present.
