Salinas Girl Escapes From Attempted Kidnap

Posted: Updated:

SALINAS, Calif. - A sixteen year old girl says a man sexually harassed her and attempted to kidnap her on her way home from school, Friday afternoon. The victim says it happened in front of the Rancho Salinas Mobile Home Park.

She says the man got out of his car and ran up to her, that's when he put her in a choke hold. The suspect then began to drag the girl towards his car. But when a different car approached, the suspect got scared and drove off in his car.

Here is what the girl was able to tell police: She says the suspect is a Hispanic man, about 19-20 years old, with what she called an "unkempt" beard. She says he was wearing a black hat with a yellow 'P' on it.

She says the car he was driving is a reddish late-model Ford Expedition. The license plate number has a 6 and W, but that was all she could see.

Friday was not the first time the girl has seen the man. She says she feels like he has been following her around. She thinks that this person may go to school at El Puente, in the adult school program because she saw the man on campus in May.

Police were called on scene and are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Salinas Police.
