MONTEREY - It's the story everyone is talking about and it's a mark in history right here on the central coast.
The Space Shuttle Endeavour flew across the Monterey Bay this morning in one of the most talked-about flights in recent memory.
"I'm excited because I've never seen one before," said Alyssa Latalamita.
And when the Space Shuttle Endeavour flew over the central coast, it was more than people could imagine.
"I just couldn't believe the size of it. It was huge. To see the jets next to it escorting it, it was tiny in comparison," said Ryan Haugh, who visited from Los Angeles.
Haugh said he and his wife had no idea the shuttle was flying over.
They just happened to be in town with their 11-month-old son and couldn't believe it when they saw it.
"It was awesome. It was cool. It was way bigger than we thought. Just to see all the people out here it was really cool. It was neat," said Amber Haugh of Los Angeles.
But for people like Lyle Dawley from Alaska, it's something he lives for.
"I've been enamored with the space shuttle my whole life, ao just see the last flight was incredible. It was beautiful," Dawley said.
And, now, he can share the experience of a lifetime with his little ones.
"I thought it was great. I never knew I would get to see the shuttle that we saw launch," said Danika Dawley, six years old.
