MONTEREY - On Friday, Space Shuttle Endeavour flew over the Central Coast, dazzling onlookers.
"I've been enamored with the space shuttle my whole life, so just see the last flight was incredible. It was beautiful," said Lyle Dawley.
But it wasn't just a win for nearly thousands of people who turned out in Monterey alone.
It was also a win for some of the local businesses.
"It's been really busy. It's been better than last year and better than other days. We've had a lot more people coming into the store, so business is better," said Martha Salazar, employee at Five and Dime General Store on Cannery Row.
She said all day people were piling into the store.
And it's all because of the big talk of town -- Space Shuttle Endeavour.
"How it was, that it was just above their heads. They've waited about an hour or so outside just to see it," Salazar said.
Soledad Arango over at After the Quake said she's seen customer after customer.
This time compared to last year, she said sales are definitely up, and today in particular
"It's been good. Since we opened the store, we've seen a lot of people coming into our shop. It looks like it's going to be one of those busy days. Looks like a summer day today for us," she said.
Other businesses said they felt very little, or no impact.
Many of the gift shops said sales were up, while some of the restaurants that opened later in the afternoon when some of the crowds went home, said they didn't feel much impact.
