SALINAS, Calif. - 59-year-old Daniel Lujan, the Salinas boxing coach accused of sexually abusing a child training at the Salinas Boxing Club, plead no contest Thursday in a Superior Court.

The complaint alleges Lujan abused the 14-year-old female victim over a two-year period.

The victim told police that Lujan would regularly rub a topical cream to promote sweating all over her body, including some inappropriate areas, said police. It took years for the teen to come forward. The witness also told police that Lujan said that he wanted a sexual relationship with her over the last several years.

Daniel Lujan will be sentenced October 25th.

He faces up to 16 years in state prison.
