In obsrvance of National Child Passenger Safety Week the California Highway Patrol is conducting child safety seat events throughout the state.

Every day this week during National Child Passenger Safety week, CHP personnel are assisting the public by demonstrating the proper way to install an infant or child's safety seat as well as performing safety inspections for all children in the vehicle who are required to be in car seat or a seat belt.

As of January first of this year, a child is required to remain in a car seat or booster until he or she is 8 yeard old or 4 feet 9 inches tall.

Parents are encouraged to call their local CHP Area office to make an appointment with a child safety seat technician for a free car seat inspection.
