WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Fed has busted another former state lawmaker for fraud.
Former Democratic State Assemblyman Carl Washington, who represented Compton from 1996 to 2002, was arrested on federal charges for running a credit card scandal.
The federal indictment alleges Washington charged up thousands of dollars on his credit cards. He then filed a police report saying he had been the victim of identity theft, saying the cards and loans were opened by someone else.
Washington would then get the credit agencies to remove the charges, and then open new credit card accounts.
More than 40 current and past state lawmakers have been arrested since January on various charges.
