PRUNEDALE, Calif.- Fire crews are responding to a house fully engulfed in flames in Prunedale.
The call came in just after 11:30pm Friday night. A two-story house off Ridgecrest and Vega Rd. caught on fire, then flames quickly spread to the vegetation nearby.
Owners of the residence say no one lived in the house because it was being remolded, however, electricity was still working inside the residence.
Fire crews said when they arrived the house was fully engulfed and the burning embers were a threat to surrounding vegetation.
Aromas Fire, Watsonville Fire, North Monterey County and CalFire all responded for a total of 8 engines, 2 water tankers and a CalFire crew.
With the help of Monterey County Sheriff and California Highway Patrol, neighbors were evacuated from the hillside neighborhood.
Fire officials say there were no reported injuries.
Crews will be working throughout the night to make sure no other fires have spread and investigators will be on scene in the morning to determine a cause.
