Neighbors In Disbelief From FBI Forensics on Their Block

Posted: Updated:

MONTEREY, Calif. - For the past 20 years Osman Calupae has walked down Spray Street in Monterey delivering the mail to every home on the block. "That's the reason why I like this route. People are nice, they know me, I know them," said Calupae.

But on today's route, Calupae ran into something he thought he would never see. An FBI Forensics team. They were searching through the home of Lawrence Jones, gathering evidence to solve a homicide case.

This case began exactly one week ago when a body was found on the side of the road in Aromas, that body was identified as 29 year old Norife Jones. Norife lived in Monterey with her estranged husband Lawrence. Which led Monterey Police to serve a search warrant at that home last night.

"When we entered the house we did find evidence that led both agencies to believe the homicide did occur here," said Leslie Sonne, Monterey Police.

Lawrence was not home last night but was located in L. A. County, he is now in custody. Neighbors said they were shocked to hear something like this could happen, especially since Lawrence was a professor at the Naval Post Graduate school.

"It's scary thinking that somebody like that lived down the street. That someone like that was able to do something like that," said neighbor Ian Richards.
