Salinas Police Identify Victim in Wednesday Night Homicide

SALINAS, Calif. -- Salinas Police have identified the man found dead on the 300 block of North Main Street, Wednesday night.

22 year old Salinas resident Richard Pimentel was found shot in the back of the head around 6:10 p.m. and was pronounced dead on scene.

Police say the motive for the shooting is unknown and it is too early in the investigation to say if the shooting is gang related.

This is the 15th homicide of the year in the City of Salinas.
