Watsonville Man Starts Neighborhood Watch

Posted: Updated:

WATSONVILLE--"Central Coast News" believes in being leaders in our community,  and we want to recognize those in our community who do the same... like Paul Gutierrez of Watsonville.

He started a Neighborhood watch program that already helped police make four arrests.

Paul said he isn't afraid to fight crime--even if it lands him in the hospital.

And that's where he is right now, after the stress of confronting some kids on his street, which added to his health problems.

But it seems as if Gutierrez's idea may be catching on in other communities.

There are already 25 Neighborhood Watch programs in the city, and in fact police and the Neighborhood Services Department put classes on to form a Neighborhood Watch, which they are in the process of doing for Paul Gutierrez's program.
