8-Year-Old Among Those Accused of Vandalizing Salinas School, Estimated $25,000 in Damages

SALINAS, Calif- Three kids were caught red handed vandalizing a classroom at Virginia Rocca Barton School, said police. According to a police department news release, three kids, ages 15, 9, and 8, were found inside a classroom Sunday afternoon with paint on their cloths and hands.

Police said a neighbor called to report a break-in at the school because they could hear glass being shattered and seeing "juveniles in the area with skateboards."

Officers were able to see a broken window in one of the classroom and they could hear that someone was in one of the other classrooms. Police said that is where they found the three kids and an estimated $25,000 in damages.

Police said the three kids threw paint on the walls, ceilings, desks, computers, and televisions. They are also accused of ransacking three classrooms. Police also found overturned desks and scattered trash. The kids are even accused of pouring water all over the teacher's desks.

According to police, it will take several days to repair the three damaged classrooms.

The 15-year-old was arrested for the vandalism and was also found to be on probation, he was taken to juvenile hall. The other two kids were cited for the same charges and released to the custody of their parents.
