MARINA, Calif. -- A neighborhood that was once thought to be safe erupted with gunshots and violence Sunday morning when two cars started firing at each other.
Neighbors said they were terrified when they heard several shots fired along the 3000 block of Vaughan Avenue. Two stray bullets went flying and hit one neighbors home and another person's car.
Neighbors told Central Coast News this type of violence never happens on this street. Lourdes Harvey has lived along Vaughan Avenue for the past 30. "As far as I know I've never had anything like this happen," said Harvey.
When police arrived the two cars had fled the scene. Witnesses said one of the cars was a green compact vehicle and the other car was a silver compact, possibly a Honda.
The suspect inside the silver car was described as a dark skinned male, possibly African American. Police think the silver car started shooting at the green vehicle.
Neighbors say its hard to keep track because this is a very busy road. "This is like Broadway. People are just zooming by. I won't even let my pets out!" said Harvey.
No one was hurt in this shooting but still, neighbors are taking no chances. "I'm kind of careful when I pull out of my driveway," said Harvey.
The suspects are still on the lose. If you have any information, call police.
