SALINAS, Calif - New information about a 12-year-old boy held at gunpoint while two men tried robbing him on his way home from school Wednesday.
He was apparently too scared to tell police what happened -- and it wasn't until a friend of that boy told a school teacher about the incident -- that it was reported to police.
The 12-year-old was walking in the area of Parkway and Cedar Street.
According to police, two guys walked up to the kid and on one of them showed him the butt of a gun that was tucked into his waistband.
The suspects were looking to take the 12-year-old's i-pod and money but the victim only has some loose change, said police.
The suspects refused to take the change and ran away, said police.
Both suspects are described as Hispanic male teenagers.
The one with the gun was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The other one was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a white baseball cap with a black letter "N".
Anyone that may have witnessed this incident is asked to call police.
